How do you think because of other musicians canceling concerts around the September 11th tragedy that you by continuing with your scheduled concerts have been looked at by the people of the USA?

- I think the public see it as musical medicine

Was the Grammy that you won for STREET SIGNS, your first Grammy?
- We have 2 Grammys one for “Embrace the Chaos” in 2001 and "Street
Signs" in '05

What were your feelings upon finding out that you were nominated?
- To be nominated and winning is surreal cause your whole life you'd
never
think that a body like that would recognize your work

 

Do you still have creative freedom over your recordings?
- We write all our music collectively and we have complete control stylistically.

Do you classify the type of music that you play as Rock en Español?
- I don't think were any one style but we do play a lot of rock in
Spanish
shows...we've had the honor of playing with the best....”Maldita,el
tri,kinky,mana,mosh.....

Do you see the band still together playing and going strong in 5 years?
- Five years from now I hope were still rocking and playing the music

Did you have any other names that you wanted for the group before deciding on Ozomatli?
- Before we were ozo we were called “todos somos marcos”

- Amsterdam

Como creas que la gente de los Estados Unidos van a verte por no cancellar tus conciertos cuando sucedio la trajedia de Septiembre 11?

Yo creo que el publico penso que era medicina adentro de la musica.

Era el Grammy que ganaste por ‘STREET SIGNS’, tu primer Grammy?
Tenemos 2 Grammys uno por “Embrace the Chaos” en 2001 y otro por “Street Signs” en 2005

Que es lo que sentiste cuando te distes cuenta que fueistes nominado?
Ser nominado y ganador es muy especial porque nunca piensas que la gente tan importante va a reconocer el trabajo que hacemos.

Todavia son libres de crear sus propias canciones?
Escribemos todo nuestra musica y tenemos todo el control.

Clasificas el tipo de musica que tocas como Rock en Español?
Yo no creo que estamos de un estilo specifico pero tocamos mucho Rock En Español. Tuvimos el honor de tocar con los mejores… Maldita, El Tri, Kinky, Mana, Mosh.....

Todavia ven el grupo tocando juntos y fuerte en 5 años?
En cinco años quisieramos tocar la musica que quieremos como siempre lo hemos hecho.

Tenian algun otro nombre que querian para el grupo antes de decidir Ozomatli?
Antes que Ozo eramos “todos somos marcos”
