In this new millennium, Latin Music is one of the most popular
genres in the world. People from different cultures are embracing
it as their own. The hot rhythms, the sexy dances, and the diversity
of styles keep people coming back for more. In the city of Cleveland,
Ohio, there is a very special Latin Music movement and Grupo Fuego
is proud to be an integral part of it.
Grupo Fuego was formed in the fall of 1999. They are very lucky
to have a group of musicians that has remained constant over the
years and who have given the band its powerful sound. They have
come a long way from their humble roots and have grown in popularity
along just as Latin Music has grown more popular. Their fan base
covers all ages and ethnic groups due to the energy that the band
puts forth in its performances.
Grupo
Fuego has been part of many Latino and multi-cultural events including
performances at Latino del Norte Arts’ Festival, Cincy-Cinco
Festival in Cincinnati, Fiesta Olé in Louisville, Toledo
Latinofest, an appearance the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for Latino
Heritage Day, the Cleveland Music Hall for Brewfest, the Puerto
Rican Cultural Festival and Parade in Cleveland, the Taste of
Cleveland Festival, the Columbus Latino Festival, “El Día
de los Niños” in Columbus and the Cityfolk Festival
in Dayton, among many others.
Grupo Fuego has also shared the stage with many legends of Latin
music including Victor Manuelle, Elvis Crespo, Tito Rojas, Grupo
Aventura, Monchy y Alexandra and Huey Dunbar. Thanks, in part,
to the assistance of these fine and talented people, Grupo Fuego
has really been catching the public’s ear.
The debut album from Grupo Fuego was produced by 3 time Grammy
winner, and Latin music legend, Freddy Mendez. His blend of Caribbean
rhythms and traditional merengue helped Grupo Fuego take their
sound to new heights. And, now, signed to the hottest new Latin
Music label on the planet, EsNtion Latino, Grupo Fuego is poised
to set the world on fire (en Fuego).

Where did your name originate and what does it mean to you?
Our
name “Grupo Fuego” means “The Fire Group”.
We decided to go with that name to describe the intensity and
flavor of our music. We play music that makes your body move with
hot and sexy dances.
How
would you describe your music in your own words?
We
cover the genres of Caribbean music including merengue, salsa,
and bachata. We also include the genres of reggaeton and occasional
ballads. Our music concentrates on festive, romantic, and patriotic
themes, which have one thing in common: to please the dancer and
the listener at the same time.
Is
your music exclusively in Spanish or do you have English songs
too?
So
far we only do Spanish songs, but in the past, we have played
music from Santana, which is in English. We’ll probably
do an English song in our next album.
How
do you feel that everyone has treated you since you started in
the music biz?
Well,
since we started, we have enjoyed a big support from Ohio’s
Latin community. We are at the point on which we are promoting
our music at a national and international level, and so far we
have been welcomed everywhere with open arms.
Is
there any new albums, demos, videos or anything else that is scheduled
to be released in 2005?
At
the moment we are still promoting our first CD, “Grupo Fuego”.
We are already working on new material for our next album probably
coming out on 2006. We just finished shooting a music video for
the song “Fuego” which is still being edited.
If
so, can you tell us about them?
Well,
the CD “Grupo Fuego” released on November 15, 2004
on EsNtion Latino Records, is full of rhythm and melody and includes
the Latin genres of merengue, bachata, reggaeton, and ballad.
The first promotional cut “Fuego” has done real well
on Record Pools and is getting decent radio airplay. The music
video for it was done in Miami and promises to be real hot like
the song.

En
este nuevo milenio, la música Latina es escuchada mundialmente.
Personas de diferentes razas y culturas han recibido y convertido
este género en uno de los más populares. El ritmo
caliente, los bailes sensuales, y la diversidad de estilos que
solamente se pueden encontrar en la música Latina, han
creado una ola de aceptación internacional que crece día
a día. En la ciudad de Cleveland, Ohio (USA), hay un movimiento
de música Latina muy especial, y nos sentimos muy orgullosos
en decir que somos parte de este.
Grupo
Fuego, se formó en el año 1999. Hemos sido afortunados
en tener un grupo de músicos que se han mantenido unidos
a través de los años, lo cual ha sido la clave del
éxito y del sabor único de nuestra orquesta. Nuestra
orquesta se compone de trece músicos, mayormente procedentes
de Puerto Rico, incluyendo un cuerpo de vientos, percusión
latina, bajo, piano y cantantes. Aunque nos caracterizamos mayormente
como una orquesta de merengue y salsa, incluímos tambien
en nuestro repertorio los géneros de la bachata, balada,
y reggaetón. Siempre nos dintinguimos por llevar un “show”
melódico, energético y variado, para así
complacer tanto al bailador como al oyente.
A través de los años hemos sido parte de importantes
festivales Latinos y multi-culturales incluyendo participación
en: “Latino del Norte Arts Festival”, “Cincy-Cinco
Festival”, “Fiesta Olé Festival”, “Toledo
Latinofest”, “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum
(Latino Heritage Day)”, “Cleveland Music Hall (Brewfest)”,
“Puerto Rican Cultural Festival and Parade”, “Taste
of Cleveland Festival”, “Columbus Latino Festival”,
"El Día de los Niños Festival" y “Cityfolk
Festival” entre otros. Tambien hemos tenido el honor de
compartir tarimas con artistas de renombre como Victor Manuelle,
Elvis Crespo, Tito Rojas, Grupo Aventura, Monchy y Alexandra,
y Huey Dunbar.
Recientemente
terminamos nuestra nueva producción titulada "Grupo
Fuego" la cual incluye temas originales de merengue, bachata,
balada y reggaetón. La misma fue grabada en los estudios
“JamPR” de Puerto Rico y producida por el tres veces
ganador del premio musical "Grammy", Freddie Méndez,
el cual ha trabajado con grandes artistas como Elvis Crespo, Grupo
Manía, y Tonny Tún Tún entre otros. Consideramos
esta producción musical un producto completo el cual gusta
tanto a personas de diferentes edades, como a personas de diferentes
países por su diverso y rítmico contenido de música
caribeña. Actualmente estamos promocionando esta producción
internacionalmente, incluyendo Norte,Centro, Sur América,
Europa, y Japón entre otros países.

Cuando fue originado tu nombre y cual es el significado?
Decidimos
nombrar nuestra orquesta “Grupo Fuego” para describir
la intensidad y el sabor de nuestra música. Nosotros llevamos
música que hace tu cuerpo vibrar con bailes calientes y
exóticos.
En tus propias palabras, como describirias tu musica?
Grupo
Fuego cubre los géneros Latinos de música Caribeña
incluyendo los ritmos del merengue, salsa, y bachata. También
incluimos los ritmos del reggaeton y el género de la balada.
Nuestra música se concentra en temas festivos, románticos,
y patrióticos, los cuales llevan un fin en común:
complacer tanto al bailador como también al oyente.
Tu musica es exclusivamente en español o tambien en ingles?
Hasta
ahora solamente hacemos canciones en español, pero en el
pasado, hemos tocado música de Santana, la cual es en inglés.
Probablemente incluyamos temas en inglés para nuestra próxima
producción.
Como te han tratado la gente desde que comensastes en tu carera
musical?
Desde que comenzamos, hemos disfrutado de un gran apoyo de la
comunidad Latina de Ohio. Estamos en el punto en el cual hemos
estado promoviendo nuestra música a un nivel nacional e
internacional, y gracias a Dios nos han recibido con brazos abiertos
en todos los sitios que nos hemos presentado.
Algunos projectos nuevos, demos, videos o cualguier otra cosa
para el año 2005?
En estos momentos estamos todavía promoviendo nuestro primer
CD, “Grupo Fuego”. Ya estamos trabajando en el material
nuevo a ser incluido en nuestra próxima producción
que saldrá probablemente para el 2006. También hemos
justamente terminado el video musical de la canción “Fuego”
el cual está siendo editado en estos momentos.
Y si es que si, cuentenos algo sobre eso?
Bien, el CD “Grupo Fuego” salió al mercado
el 15 de Noviembre de 2004 a través de EsNtion Latino Records.
Este CD está lleno de ritmo y melodía e incluye
los géneros Latinos de merengue, bachata, reggaeton, y
balada. El primer corte promocional “Fuego”, ha tenido
muy buena acogida en los “Record Pools” y se está
tocando mucho en la radio. El video musical para “Fuego”
fue hecho en Miami y promete ser bien caliente así como
dice la canción.
