ESE
LOC
Interviewed by: Angela
Your
album which was supposed to be released in Nov was pushed back
until Feb 2006. Why the change in release dates?
Yea, we had to push the album back to get more time to register
with ASCAP & get a few other things in order being that we
are underground we still learning bout different aspects of the
industry. But we are on point though, for sure.
How long have you been rapping?
Going on about 6 years now.
When did you first decide that this is what you wanted to do and
take it seriously?
Early last year while I was on break from the industry was when
I realized that I owed it to these streets to get back on it.
What made you decide to leave college and stick to music full
time?
Well, I just kept to what I knew best & took it from there.
I am just blessed to still be in it you know.
The label that you are signed to, Candy Records, when did you
decide to start that?
Before I ever hit the booth back in 99 was when I decide I needed
to be independent if I wanted to do anything. It’s just
that it’s never been like me to wait on someone to make
moves for me.
Have you signed other artists?
I've had many artists on my roster but no one under contract with
me. But we are always looking & willing to listen, just get
at us.
How do you describe your music style?
I have to say its south, but out of control, I mean its not real
crunk, but more like, Crunk because it’s Real.
Is your music mainly in English or Spanish?
My music is mostly in English not to limit myself, with a little
bit of Spanish, to let them boys know I haven’t forgotten
where I come from.
Since everyone has a different one….. what was the ONE piece
of GREAT info that you walked away from the Latin Rap Conference
with?
Well not to avoid the question but I left N.Y. on a whole other
level, with lots of valuable information thru networking, panelists
and just by being present. Although I’m sure that a little
more organization & clarity by the host would be greatly appreciated
by all the attendees.
Will you be attending next years LRC?
We are still not sure yet.
What radio stations are currently playing your songs?
One local station currently, but we are in communications with
several radio shows, satellite & syndicated who are anticipating
the upcoming singles off the new release Embassy Ambassador
Where did you come up with the name ESE LOC and what does it mean
to you?
It comes from the streets and means to me what it is. Ese- is
what they call Latinos out here in the streets & Loc- is short
for loco which means crazy in English & that's what that it
is.
How have you been treated in the industry so far?
Well there will always be shysti muthafuccas in any industry,
but I don't waste time dwelling on them, I learn from it for future
reference, its cut throat, so you cut or get cut naw mean.
How do you feel that the industry has changed since you have been
a part of it?
Well I think its changed for the better, because now they are
at least looking at Latinos, Reggaeton or not. All I know is Latin
rappers have got to be next.
Where is your main fan base?
Mainly in Texas but they put me on in Michigan, New Mexico, Arkansas,
Memphis, Atlanta, Arizona, and in every penitentiary in Cali thru
mix tapes, downloads, & features.
What is your official website?
www.candycoatedrecordz.com with that Z
How do you promote yourself, your music and your site?
Through word of mouth, an online street team, vehicle wraps &
car shows mostly.
Do you have anything else to add?
Yea I would like to encourage everyone to keep at it, do your
thing whatever it may be & to never let what haters say or
think about get to you because that’s how they win.
How about any shout outs?
I gotta say what it do ta my nigga C & all dem boyz in east
Dallas & to everyone who supported me thru da years Candy
Coated Records still drippin for the 06 ya heard.
