DELASONICA
Delasonica has been chosen to be in a movie soundtrack for the
up and coming film… The move is called "Magnicidio,
Complot en Lomas Taurinas". It's about the murder of a Politician
and it will also be playing in some latin theaters in the US.
A LIL BIT OF THE BIO OF DELASONICA:
Delasónica is 5
guys influenced by contemporary music, the pop culture, graphic
design, the city and the beach, with a little brain damage from
the damn injustice of life, unrequited love and the excessive
volume of their guitars.
Mario
Durán, Alan Esparza and Jorge Rodríguez have played
together since the alterative rock movement of the 90’s,
which motivated them to form a band. The lead singer, Lizandro
“Chompi” Fernández, joined the band after being
part of several local bands, including an alternative project
in Jalapa, Veracruz. Together they set out on an adventure to
the city of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, where they made new contacts,
gained public acceptance and recorded an album with La Cueva Records.
Less than satisfied with that recording, they returned to the
crippled City of Colima, almost destroyed by the 2003 earthquake.
Beto “Slash” Ramirez returned to the band after playing
for a few years in the legendary band La Adixion.
The
members of Delasónica, each influenced by their own heroes
– such as Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Jumbo, Zurdok and
Red Hot Chili Peppers – promote an alternative style with
the friendliness of pop, sometimes acoustic, sometimes low-fi
and strident (their favorite). Their first production, “Ven
a Ver”, showcases the band’s unique sound, musical
experimentation, and unconventional rehearsal style – qualities
that set the band apart. The members of Delasónica were
born on stage, live on stage and surely they will die... in a
hospital.
Who is in your group and what do they do or play?
Beto Ramírez and Mario Duran (guitars), Chomps Fertz (vocals),
Jorge Rodriguez (bass), Alan Esparza (drums) and Mike Igartúa
(Manager/Producer/Friend).
Where did your name originate and what does it mean to you?
The well known grupero band "Límite", changed
its name to "Euforia" and legally registered it. "Euforia"
was precisely the same name we were using for years without registering
it, so we had to change it. We tried to think of many options,
but none seemed to satisfy us. One day, we were at a bar downtown
and we decided that we wouldn’t leave until we could think
of the perfect name for our band. I particularly liked “Sonica”
which means “sound”, but that was the name of a band
in Tijuana. Other’s thought that it was a good idea for
the name to begin with “The” and others liked the
sound of the name from our friends “Belanova”. So
we mixed everything and we discovered that we had created a new
name, which in separate "De-La-Sonica” means something
like “From The Sound".
How would you describe your music in your own words?
Alternative Rock in Spanish. Delasónica is a mix of different
styles and emotions.
Is
your music exclusively in Spanish or do you have English songs
too?
We only write in Spanish, but at concerts, rehearsals and “jams”
we play several cover songs in English since we listen to music
in both languages.
How
do you feel that everyone has treated you since you started in
the music biz?
At the beginning not very good, but it takes years of struggle,
dedication and a lot of effort to make a name for your self. We
all knew that this is a tough road, so we had to deal with a lot
of injustice at the beginning. Today the road is a bit clearer
due to our hard work.
Is
there any new albums, demos, videos or anything else that is scheduled
to be released in 2005?
Of course. We’re always working on something!
If so, can you tell us about them?
We have a new video, "Eclipse" directed by a friend
and excellent short moviemaker, Andrés Villa. " Eclipse
" is our second single. Probably in 2005 we'll record a couple
of covers for some "tribute albums" or we might save
them to include them on our next album, since in concerts and
rehearsals they come out pretty well.

How
do you promote your music & website?
We love to play. I personally think it’s the best way to
promote a band. I’d be very happy if we played every day.
We always have a banner at the concerts with our website so people
that cant’s stay for the after party or doesn’t have
a chance to talk with the band members, know where they can contact
us anytime through the internet. But at this point, our main promotional
strategy is the internet. We post in almost any forum we find
and we register at all websites that have to do with Rock in Spanish.

We’ve sent our music to many stations but we know for sure

What
do you hope to accomplish before the end of 2005?
A tour in almost every state of the US, some presentations in
Europe and be known as one of the best Rock in Spanish bands.
In 2004 we accomplished many things but we can’t stop here,
there still a long ways to go and 2005 is a long road.

Los
hombres del Grupo Delasonica estan celebrando ahora porque ellos
va a tener su musica en una pelicula. La pelicula se llama
"MAGNICIDIO, Complot en Lomas Taurinas"
Una
Parte De La Biografia De DELASONICA:
Mario Durán, Alan Esparza y Jorge Rodríguez forman
Euforia a mediados de los 90's con el fin de desarrollar sus aptitudes
musicales y encontrarse por primera vez por el movimiento de rock
alternativo que circulaba por esos tiempos.
En ese entonces, el guitarrista Beto "Slash" Ramirez
se unió a la banda, pero tiempo después fue requerido
por el vocalista Lizandro "Chompi" Fernández,
con quien había tocado en bandas anteriores para complementar
la legendaria banda La Adixion.
La Adixion cayó en una crisis de integrantes, y aunque
logró levantarse de ello, Chompi Fernández se mudó
a la ciudad de Jalapa, Veracruz a continuar con un proyecto llamado
La Iliada. Al regresar, en el nuevo milenio se integró
a Euforia y así se mudaron todos al norte del país,
en específico a la ciudad de Monterrey en donde consiguieron
contactos, aceptación del público y un disco con
La Cueva Records el cual no llenó sus expectativas.
Ya en el 2003, con La Adixion ya desintegrada, Beto Ramírez
regresó con la banda después de varios años,
y con un poco de tiempo y la gran conglomeración de años
de Mario, Alan y Jorge, el concepto Delasónica tomó
forma y fuerza. Esto llegó a los ojos y oídos de
Mike Igartúa, amigo cercano y ahora manager de la banda,
quien estaba estrenando un estudio que había puesto junto
con un locutor de radio, Eduardo Figueroa, para lo cual fueron
invitados a grabar inmediatamente. El resto es historia.
Cinco
sujetos influenciados por la música contemporánea,
el arte pop, el diseño, la ciudad y la playa, dañados
un poco del cerebro por la maldita injusticia de la vida, la incorrespondencia
del amor o el excesivo volumen de sus guitarras.
De
esta forma, Delasónica nace en 2003, después del
desastroso terremoto que azota la ciudad de Colima, Colima. Influenciados
cada uno por sus propios héroes, como Smashing Pumpkins,
Pearl Jam, Jumbo, Zurdok y Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Delasónica promueve un estilo alternativo con la simpatía
del pop, en ocasiones acústico, en ocasiones low-fi y en
muchas ocasiones estridente, irradiando en su primera producción
"Ven a Ver" ese sonido característico de la banda,
los experimentos que idean, y sobre todo ese ambiente íntimo
de su particular forma de ensayar, lo cual ellos mismos reconocen
como origen, por lo tanto, los integrantes de Delasónica
nacen en un escenario, viven en un escenario y seguramente morirán
en un... hospital.
Quien
esta en tu grupo y que instrumentos tocan?

Cuando
fue originado tu nombre y cual es el significado?
La banda grupera anteriormente conocida como "Límite",
se cambió de nombre por "Euforia" y lo registraron
legalmente. "Euforia" era exactamente el mismo nombre
que nosotros habíamos usado por años sin registro,
así que tuvimos que cambiarlo. Intentamos proponer muchos
nombres, pero ninguno parecía acomodarse a nosotros. Un
día, casualmente estábamos en un bar del centro
de la ciudad y decidimos que no saldríamos de ahí
hasta encontrar un nombre para nuestra banda. A mi en particular,
me gustaba "Sonica", que significa "sonido",
pero ese era el nombre de una banda de Tijuana. Otros creían
que era bueno que nuestro nombre empezara con "The",
y a otros les gustaba como sonaba el nombre de nuestros amigos
de Belanova. Así que mezclamos todo, y nos dimos cuenta
que habíamos creado un nuevo nombre que separado como "De-La-Sonica",
significa algo así como "Del Sonido (From The Sound)"
En tus propias palabras, como describirias
tu musica?
Género rock alternativo. Delasónica es una mezcla
de estilos y emociones diferentes
Tu
musica es exclusivamente en español o tambien en ingles?
Escribimos solamente en español, pero en los conciertos,
ensayos y "jams" tocamos varios covers en inglés,
ya que escuchamos música en ambos idiomas.
Como
te han tratado la gente desde que comensastes en tu carera
musical?
Al principio no nos trataban bien, pero son los años de
lucha, dedicación y el esforzarse por un lugar. Todos sabíamos
perfectamente que este camino es difícil, así que
tuvimos que aguantar muchas injusticias al principio. Hoy en día
el camino es un poco más claro por haber trabajado mucho.
Algunos
projectos nuevos, demos, videos o cualguier otra cosa para
el año 2005?
Claro que si. Siempre trabajamos en ese tipo de cosas.
Y si es que si, cuentenos algo sobre eso?
Tenemos un nuevo video, "Eclipse", dirigido por un amigo
y excelente cortometrista, Andrés Villa. "Eclipse"
es el segundo sencillo de la banda. Probablemente en el 2005 grabemos
un par de covers para algunos "álbumes tributo"
o simplemente lo guardaremos para incluirlo en nuestro próximo
disco, ya que en los conciertos y ensayos salen muy bien.

promueves tu musica y website?
Nos gusta tocar. Creo que es la mejor manera de promover a una
banda. Sería feliz si tocara todos los días. Llevamos
siempre una lona a los conciertos con la dirección de nuestro
website para que la gente que no se quede al afterparty o no tenga
oportunidad de relacionarse con la banda, sepa donde encontrarnos
después a cualquier hora por medio del internet.>>
Pero hasta el momento nuestra principal fuente de promoción
es el Internet. Ponemos posts en todos los foros que encontramos
y nos registramos en todos los sitios que tengan que ver con rock
en español.

Una gira por casi todos los estados de EUA, algunas presentaciones
en Europa y posicionarnos como una de las mejores bandas del Rock
en Español. En el 2004 logramos muchas cosas pero no hay
que quedarse ahí, hay mucho camino por recorrer y el 2005
es una larga carretera.
