This is just a website. UpstateOnstage.com is not an organization of any kind. It simply serves as a meeting point for a variety of theater people, be they backstage, onstage, or in the seats. It all started about a year ago when a group of independent theater producers/directors/actors began meeting to discuss theater in the Upstate. It seems that everyone agreed that communication between theaters was severely lacking and that something was needed to shake things up and unite the tribes. The first venture of this group was known as the “theatre trifecta”, a two-weekend run of 3 shows in rep at the Warehouse Theatre: “Brilliant Traces”, “The Book of Liz”, and “Artist’s Fear”. It turned out to be a success, and the group found that their efforts had achieved a unity between several theater companies in the area: The Warehouse Theatre, Plan B Theatre Project, The Distracted Globe, plus the Greenville Little Theatre and Centre Stage both helped with props and costumes.

So then we started to look at creating a website that served the theater community in the Upstate. The idea centered around the feature of the Profile Page, where any individual or company could post their headshot, resume, email link, bio, etc. while having access to a Calendar and a Theater Forum. It was clear that we needed a webmaster. Greg Hood, with Indie Communications, happens to be the one we found and we like him.
And lo, www.upstateonstage.com was born.
